Verification

FactCheckAfrica thoroughly combed through the social media accounts and the website of the Channels Television and also the social media accounts of the journalist, Seun Okinbaloye, to see if they had released anything related to the claim but did not see anything related to such.

Also, during the course of our fact-checking process, we retrieved a video where an X user, @Diplomat_01 posted a video clip of Sunday Politics anchored by Seun Okinbaloye. The claimant claims that the content in the video was the reason why Seun was sacked.

The caption reads, “Are you wondering why @seunokin was fired from @channelstv?”

We analyzed the video and discovered that it has been on the internet since 28th of January, 2024 as made available on the Channels Television official youtube channels.

Additionally, we discovered that Farooq Kperogi has helped him to refute the claim on his Facebook page.

He wrote, “Channel TV’s Seun Okinbaloye has NOT been fired, contrary to social media rumors doing the rounds.

I communicated with him a few hours ago, and he said he is on vacation here in the United States and still very much in the employ of Channels TV. “Prof, the whole story is fake news,” he said.

FactCheckAfrica also reached out to Seun Okinbaloye through his mail. However, he is yet to respond as at the time of writing this check.

Conclusion

The claim that Seun Okinbaloye was sacked from Channels tv is false! Media reports show that he is on vacation in the United States.
