Claim:

President Tinubu orders immediate recruitment of 30,350 Nigerian youths into Immigration, NSCDC, and other paramilitary services.

Verdict:

Mostly True! While the claim that President Tinubu ordered the recruitment is accurate, the exact figure is 30,150, not 30,350. Additionally, the recruitment process has not yet begun, contrary to viral social media narratives.

Full Text:

Several social media posts and blog articles claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has “ordered the immediate recruitment of 30,350 Nigerian youths” into various paramilitary agencies including the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Federal Fire Service (FFS), and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

The news, widely shared, has generated excitement, and confusion,  among many job seekers nationwide. Given the current economic climate and high unemployment rate in Nigeria, such claims often go viral quickly.

Some of the headlines even include phrases like “apply now” or direct readers to unverified recruitment links, making it imperative to investigate the veracity of the information.

Verification:

FactCheckAfrica reviewed official statements and multiple media reports to verify the claim. On June 10, 2025, a statement was issued by Maj.-Gen. A.M. Jibril (Rtd), Secretary to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

In the statement, Jibril confirmed that President Bola Tinubu had indeed approved the recruitment of 30,150 personnel, broken down as follows:

  • Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): 10,000
  • Federal Fire Service (FFS): 10,000
  • Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): 5,000
  • Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS): 5,150
  • CDCFIB Secretariat Staff: 209

This totals 30,150, not 30,350 as some reports claimed.

Importantly, the recruitment process has not commenced. The CDCFIB stated that it is currently awaiting a waiver to reduce the standard six-week advertisement period to three weeks in order to expedite the process. Once approved, the recruitment will be officially announced through national newspapers and verified digital platforms, not random websites or social media accounts.

The Board also warned the public to be wary of scammers and unofficial channels that demand payment or personal information, affirming that the process will be completely free and transparent.

Conclusion:

The claim that President Tinubu approved mass recruitment into Nigeria’s paramilitary services is mostly true. The correct figure is 30,150, not 30,350, and the recruitment has not yet started. The CDCFIB has urged the public to ignore fake recruitment portals and social media posts claiming otherwise. Always refer to official government sources for accurate information.
