A Facebook sponsored post making round online claims that the N-power recruitment exercise is ongoing.
The post shared by Janzakitv on the 16th of November, 2023 directs people to click a provided link. The graphic contains president Bola Tinubu’s picture with an inscription that notes: Apply for N-power N30,000 2023/2024 scheme with an instruction to provide personal details like full name, email address, account number and phone number.
The text of the post reads, “Start your applications today as a Nigerian. Applications are currently ongoing.”
The post has generated 16,000 likes, 3,700 comments and 311 shares as of January 9, 2024.
The claim
The same claim was also shared and retrieved from other facebook users with the username Kitatool Insight.
Verification
Checks by FactCheck Africa show that this claim is False!
A check on N-power official account on X shows that, N-power has once debunked a similar claim noting that credible information about recruitment exercise will be firstly updated by them.
The post reads, “It has come to our notice that lots of fake news has been in circulation.
Please note that we will be the first to notify you on any update with regards to possible recruitment, pending payments and portal related issues.”
When this fact-checker subjected the link provided to verification, the result shows that the domain is a phishing site that FactCheck Africa has previously reported.
Conclusion
FactCheck Africa can confirm that the N-power recruitment exercise as purported by the Facebook user is FALSE!
