Verification:

To confirm if the alleged claim was said by Obi, FactCheckAfrica(FCA) watched the video as posted by the user and found it devoid of Obi uttering such a statement.

To further verify, FCA watched the full clip uploaded on YouTube on the Arise news channel and discovered that the NDC Presidential candidate made no such statement. For clearer vision, FCA watched the coverage of the same event by channels TV and got the same findings.

However, it is noteworthy that in the full length video as mentioned above, Obi mentioned that Makinde is “qualified” to be a President, but never stated that Makinde is better than him.

Additionally, Obi stated that his presence at the event was to show “solidarity”. According to him, he said: “ I am here because we chose him to build a new Nigeria, a Nigeria of love, unity, inclusion”.

Findings available reveals that there exists no evidence  to back up the claim.

Conclusion:

Claim that the Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress, Peter Obi stated that the Presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement is more qualified than him is False and deceptive.
