Have you seen a claim, image, video, or statement that you think may be false or misleading? FactCheckAfrica welcomes submissions from readers, journalists, researchers, and members of the public.

You can use the form below to:

• Submit a claim for fact-checking.
• Report possible errors in our published fact checks.
• Send feedback or comments about our work.
• Lodge a complaint regarding our editorial processes.

While we review every submission, submitting a claim does not guarantee that it will be fact-checked or published. Our editorial team selects claims based on our editorial criteria, including public interest, potential harm, the spread of the claim, availability of verifiable evidence, and our editorial capacity. What We Can Fact-Check

We generally fact-check claims that can be verified using reliable evidence, including:

• Specific metrics and statistics: Numerical data, polling results, financial figures, scientific measurements, and similar claims.
• Recorded history: Dates, locations, events, and historical facts.
• Attributed statements: Whether a public official, organisation, or public figure actually said or did what is being reported.
• Images and video authenticity: Whether an image or video has been manipulated, taken out of context, or falsely presented.
• Laws and policies: The existence, wording, status, or implementation of legislation, regulations, government policies, and official documents.

What We Cannot Fact-Check

Some claims cannot be objectively verified. These include:

• Opinions and personal beliefs: For example, statements such as “Nigeria has the best jollof rice in West Africa,” which are subjective rather than factual.
• Future events or predictions: Campaign promises, forecasts, predictions, or claims about events that have not yet occurred.
• Moral or value judgments: Statements about what is “right,” “wrong,” “good,” or “bad.”
• Intentions, motives, or feelings: Claims about what someone is thinking, intends, or feels unless supported by verifiable evidence.

• The exact claim you would like us to fact-check.
• Where you saw or heard the claim (include a link if available).
• Any relevant screenshots, images, videos, or supporting documents.
• Why you believe the claim should be checked (optional).
