Full Text
A purported timetable for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national congress has been circulating on Facebook and other social media platforms.
The document outlines a series of events, beginning with the election of ward officials on Sunday, August 3, 2025, and ending on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with appeals arising from the state congress.
The document appears to be formatted in the official party language, citing constitutional references such as “Article 12.8(x) for state congress and Article 12.18(v) for LGA congress.”
It has gained traction on social media, appearing in multiple posts, including here, here, here, here, here, here and here
Given the importance of internal party elections in Nigeria’s ruling party, the document has generated concern and confusion among political stakeholders, party members, and the public. To verify the legitimacy of the timetable, FactCheckAfrica investigated.
Verification
A thorough search of the official website of the APC and its verified X (formerly Twitter) account revealed no such timetable published. Importantly, a search across major Nigerian news platforms, which would typically report on a legitimate APC announcement, returned no official confirmation or news stories verifying the timetable.

Instead, the party issued a direct disclaimer signed by Felix Morka, Esq, National Publicity Secretary of the party on March 26, 2025. The APC posted a tweet on its verified X handle @OfficialAPCNg, discrediting the viral timetable. The tweet reads:
DISCLAIMER: APC TIMETABLE FOR NATIONWIDE CONGRESSES. A valid notice or schedule of activities for congresses will be communicated through the Party’s official information platforms in due course.
— APC Nigeria (@OfficialAPCNg)
This clear and public disavowal confirms that the timetable did not originate from the APC and is not official.
Conclusion
The timetable being circulated as the APC’s schedule for its national congress in August 2025 is false. The party has explicitly denied releasing any such schedule and has advised the public to await official communications through its verified platforms. Sharing such disinformation can mislead the public, disrupt planning, and cause unnecessary tension within party ranks.
