A claim that the federal government of Nigeria is currently recruiting Parents Teachers Association (PTA) teachers has been circulating on social media, most especially on WhatsApp.
Verdict:
The claim that the federal government is currently recruiting PTA teachers is not true. The registration link attached to the claim is a phishing site.

Social media users have been circulating a claim that the federal government is currently recruiting PTA teachers. The claim is accompanied by a registration link and has generated widespread attention for the job opportunity it promises.
The claim as forwarded on WhatsApp has bolded heading written in block, probably to gain attention: “*FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PTA TEACHERS RECRUITMENT IS ONGOING*”. It further contains verbatim, “The Federal Government under the leadership of *President Bola Ahmed Tinubu* and the supervision of the *Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa*, has announced the recruitment of qualified teachers under the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) programme, creating new opportunities for qualified and passionate teachers across the country.

Due to informality in the composition of the information as well as its sensitivity to vulnerable Nigerians, FactCheckAfrica decided to factcheck it.
Verification:
FactCheckAfrica subjected the claim to search engines and discovered peculiar information. On August 06, 2026, it was reported that, “President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment process for 3,252 verified Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) teachers into the federal public service, a move aimed at addressing teacher shortages in Federal Unity Colleges and improving the quality of education across the country.”
While the news is closer to the claim, it is contrary in the sense that the approved recruitment does not require a fresh registration as contained in the claim. Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, who announced the approval said, “The recruitment is expected to provide long-awaited relief for thousands of PTA teachers, many of whom have spent nearly 25 years teaching in Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Technical Colleges without permanent employment.” This statement means that the recruitment is for PTA teachers who are part of the system not for potential fresh teachers.
Additionally, “Alausa said the teachers would be absorbed into the federal public service after completing all statutory requirements, noting that the exercise followed a comprehensive verification conducted by an Inter-Ministerial Committee.” The trustable news can also be seen here and here.
The Phishing Part
The registration link attached to the claim does not carry a federal government domain, so it looks very suspicious. When it was subjected to a URL verification tool, WhoIs, the result linked the domain’s country to the United States (US). It added that the domain was registered on 2020-04-11, updated on 2026-04-12, and will expire on 2027-04-11. Another verification tool, VIRUSTOTAL was used to analyze the link and it revealed that it is phishing, malicious, and suspicious.
For further verification, FactCheckAfrica clicked on the link and it led to a homepage where it asked for full name, email, phone number, gender, and state of origin. Wrong information was supplied and it proceeded to another page which brought about a congratulatory message. It reads, “Congratulations, Musa Musa, you’re eligible for the PTA Teachers Recruitment. Proceed to submit your application. How To Proceed

2. You will be redirected automatically to our “SUBMISSION PAGE” after the verification bar is filled.

The page where the site direct applicants to share the claim on WhatsApp
Whereas, it has been reported that mandating users to share information to WhatsApp friends and groups is among the tactics of scammers.
Conclusion:
FactCheckAfrica examined the claim and discovered that it contradicts the truth, it can be concluded that the claim is false and the phishing site is for malicious purposes.
