FACT-CHECK: Image Claiming Arise TV Town Hall Result for Osun Governorship Election Is FAKE!

An image circulating on social media, particularly on WhatsApp, purports to show the results of the Arise News Town Hall on the Osun State governorship election, themed “The Battle for Osun State,” which was hosted by Arise TV on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Verdict:
False, the scorecard and image did not emanate from AriseTv or any of the Media patners at the event.

An image circulating on WhatsApp claims to show the result of the recently concluded Arise News Town Hall for the Osun State governorship election.
The scorecard, as presented in the image, contains scores for only two candidates: Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the circulating image, Oyebamiji scored 8.5 out of 10, while Adeleke scored 7.5 out of 10.
The image emerged shortly after the Arise News Town Hall, which was held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Given the sensitivity of the claim and the proximity of the election, FactCheckAfrica subjected the image to verification to establish whether it was an authentic result released by Arise News or another credible source.
Verification:
FactCheckAfrica reviewed Arise News’ official platforms, including its live television platform, but found no publication containing the purported scorecard.
Further checks were conducted across Arise News’ official social media platforms, including X, Facebook, and TikTok, but no evidence was found that the media organisation published or endorsed the image in circulation.
FactCheckAfrica also found no publicly available result from the town hall published by any credible media organisation or independent body.
Importantly, three governorship candidates participated in the town hall, yet the purported scorecard contains the scores of only two candidates. It excludes Rt. Hon. Dr. Najeem Salaam, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who also participated in the programme.
The omission raises further questions about the authenticity and completeness of the purported result.
Conclusion:
The image circulating as the official result sheet of the Arise News Town Hall on the Osun State governorship election is Fake.
FactCheckAfrica found no evidence that Arise News published or endorsed the scorecard. The absence of the third participating candidate from the purported result further undermines its credibility.
Members of the public are therefore advised to exercise caution and rely on verified information from Arise News and other credible sources when assessing claims relating to the August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
