Recall that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) launched a strike over failed minimum wage negotiation with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The NLC requested N615,000 new minimum wage from the FGN, stating that the strike will continue until the new minimum wage is approved.

The veracity of this claim is what prompted FactCheckAfrica to establish the truth of the matter.

To verify this claim, FactCheckAfrica contacted Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Kwara State Government.

The CPS said that Kwara State has not yet revealed the new minimum wage as claimed and anything that has to do with that will be officially disclosed.

Also, we checked through the official accounts of Lagos State, Kano State,  Ogun State and Ekiti State on X and Facebook simultaneously. However, we couldn’t see any developments regarding the new minimum wage.

While reacting to the claimant, Ayekooto on X, the Kwara State Chief Press Secretary said, “Please note that this is FAKE NEWS as far as Kwara is concerned.”
