FACT-CHECK: Video Used to Depict Obi & Oshiomole Clashing in a Raw Interview is Fabricated!

A user on X has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi had a clash with Adams Oshiomole, the senator representing Edo North senatorial district in a “raw interview”.

A circulating video on social media portrays Peter Obi and Adams Oshiomole responding to one another “in a raw interview”.
The video was posted by a user on X named @felixherbt on September 3, 2026.
The caption reads: “A must watch video 👀
Peter Obi clashed with Adams Oshiomhole in a raw interview.
Where is the subsidy money going to? Adams couldn’t answer 😳😳”

This post comes up amid rising tension in the Nigerian political landscape as the 2027 general election draws nearer.
Verification:
FactCheckAfrica watched the acclaimed interview video and noticed there was no wide coverage capturing Obi and Oshiomole in a single shot in the video. Furthermore, there were no studio background settings behind both men, but just dark backgrounds. These raised prompted further checks.
Using selected keyframe shots from the video, a google reverse image search was conducted and it led to the original youtube page where the video emanated from, @owllabloo. The video as uploaded on YouTube was tagged “POLITRICS EP 2: PETER OBI CLASHED WITH ADAMS OSHIOMOLE IN A CONVERSATION THAT NEVER HAPPENED”, with “ROAST | DARK HUMOUR | SATIRE” added to it in the description.
Further checks on the video description on YouTube revealed the video, though edited together as a whole, was not recent. It was uploaded on June 18, 2025.

Additionally, it was discovered that the content as it were on youtube had been flagged as AI generated. This thus confirms that there was no raw interview or conversation between Obi and Oshiomole.
FactCheckAfrica also noted that the description of the youtube page revealed the conversation was not real.
Conclusion:
The video in circulation portraying Obi and Oshiomole in a raw interview is fabricated and misleading.
