Verification:

In the course of verification, FactCheckAfrica reviewed recent publications of reputable media outlets but couldn’t find any report that validates the claim. The report that has to do with the veteran actress and a filling station appeared five years ago (June 2021) on Nigerian Tribune and New Telegraph where she alongside other artists participated in commissioning of a Total Grace Oil and Gas filling station in the Lekki area of Lagos State.

In a further search using Google Reverse Image, it is evident that the pictures attached to the image had surfaced previously online for different posts. Also, it was found that the same post and pictures had previously appeared on February 19, 2026 on Ibrahim yekini kesari fans’ Facebook group where it gathered 919 likes, 155 comments, and 5 shares.

When FactCheckAfrica checked the official Instagram and X handles of Funke Akindele, no iota of information about the claim was spotted. What several news reports show is that she attended and helped commission/inaugurate a filling station owned by Total Grace Oil & Gas in Lekki, Lagos, alongside other celebrities such as DJ Spinall. The station was opened by the company, not by Funke Akindele herself. Funke Akindele is primarily known as an actress, filmmaker, producer, and entrepreneur. More recently, she has also been linked to real estate projects such as Jenifa Gardens, but reports do not indicate that she owns a filling station.”

Conclusion:

FactCheckAfrica found no evidence that Funke Akindele established or owns a filling station. A review of her official social media accounts revealed no announcement supporting the claim. Instead, available reports show that she attended and participated in the commissioning of a filling station owned by Total Grace Oil & Gas in Lekki, Lagos, alongside other celebrities. The filling station was launched by the company, not by Funke Akindele. Therefore, the claim that the actress and filmmaker established a filling station is false.
