FAKE CLAIM

VERIFICATION:

FactCheck Africa examined the viral message, the website address attached to it and available official information relating to Governor Ademola Adeleke and the alleged ₦25,000 payment.

The link provided in the message uses the domain fast-claim.website, rather than an official government or campaign domain associated with the Osun State Government or Governor Adeleke.

The structure of the message also raises concerns. It promises an instant ₦25,000 payment in exchange for answering questions through an unfamiliar website and encourages recipients to access the payment through the provided link.

FactCheck Africa found no official announcement from the Osun State Government confirming a ₦25,000 election campaign cash-transfer programme jointly sponsored by Governor Adeleke and Davido.

There is also no evidence in the claim itself identifying an official government programme, payment agency, eligibility criteria or authorised contact through which members of the public can verify the alleged cash transfer.

The use of Davido’s name alongside that of the governor further gives the message the appearance of an endorsement by a prominent public figure. However, the viral message provides no verifiable statement from Davido or his representatives confirming the alleged programme.

The website address therefore cannot be treated as an official channel for receiving a ₦25,000 payment based solely on the viral message.

WHAT WE FOUND

The viral message uses the names of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Davido to promote an alleged ₦25,000 cash transfer through an unfamiliar website.

However, no official evidence was found to support the existence of such a joint campaign cash-transfer programme or to establish that the website is authorised by either Adeleke or Davido.

The promise of an instant cash payment through an unfamiliar link is also a common feature of online scam and phishing messages.

Members of the public should therefore avoid entering personal or financial information on the website or forwarding the message to others unless the offer can be independently confirmed through an official source.

CONCLUSION:

The claim that Governor Ademola Adeleke and Davido are offering ₦25,000 election campaign cash transfers through the circulating fast-claim.website link is not supported by any official announcement from the Osun State Government, Adeleke or Davido.

FactCheck Africa found no evidence that the website is an authorised platform for the alleged payment. The claim is therefore FALSE, and members of the public are advised not to provide personal information or interact with the link.

VERDICT: FALSE

The claim that Governor Ademola Adeleke and Davido are distributing ₦25,000 through the viral fast-claim.website link is false. No official evidence supports the alleged cash-transfer programme, and the link is not an identified official channel of either the Osun State Government or Davido.
