FactCheck Africa perused several platforms of reputable media outlets and could not see an iota of such information which means it didn’t happen. A review of the official Instagram handle of Davido showed no sign that could validate the claim.

A click on the link attached to the claim led to a homepage that advertises the claim even more. When clicked further to accept the ₦15,000 offer, it led to another page that requested for name and account number. A fake name and account number was submitted just so to navigate ahead and it led to a welcome page which directed everyone to share with 5 groups or with 15 friends on WhatsApp. Meanwhile, the resharing directive is a generic tactic by phishing websites.

Furthermore, the attached link was subjected to a verification tool known as Whois which revealed that the domain was registered on August 08, 2026 and will expire on August 08, 2027. The domain was updated on August 13, 2026 which means it was created for a particular purpose.

In an exclusive interview with Umar Akintobi, an indigene of Osun state said the claim is not true. “A claim like that has a slight chance of being true during the election period but it is not possible in the post-election period,” he asserted.

Conclusion:

Since there’s no evidence to back the claim that Governor Ademola Adeleke is giving out ₦15,000 to celebrate his election victory, the claim is false.
