Following recent reports, U.S. President Donald Trump, last Friday, redesignated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern”, citing alleged cases of Christian persecution. Shortly after, Trump was quoted as threatening that the United States would suspend all aid to Nigeria and could even launch a military operation to “wipe out Islamic terrorists killing Christians.”
The claim has generated widespread reactions across Nigeria, drawing comments from government officials, political figures, including Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and concerned citizens.
This fact-check aims to verify the authenticity of the claim, given its potential to mislead the public and inflame national tensions.
Verdict: False!
