An X user, @Miniko_jnr, shared that Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori is the new APC Acting National Chairman.
The claim comes following the suspension of Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday by members of his ward, the Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
Haruna Gwanjo, the leader of the Executive Council of Ganduje Ward, noted that the decision was taken following the recent corruption allegations of the Kano former governor regarding his long-standing dollar case.
The suspension was also upheld by a judge of the Kano State High Court, Usman Na’abba.
As of press time, the post has amassed about 1550 likes, 198 reposts and 34 quotes.
We decided to fact check this claim because of its importance at this time and its potential to mislead the general public.
Verification
FactCheckAfrica did a check to ascertain the veracity of this claim by doing a keyword search but no credible reports validate it. We however discovered that after the suspension of the National Chairman by his ward members, the Kano State chapter of the party, State Working Committee thwarted the decision and sacked those who instituted Ganduje’s suspension.
Additionally, a Federal High Court in Kano ordered that Ganduje’s suspension as the National Chairman and member of APC be halted until the case is heard and determined.
According to TheCable, the ruling came after Ganduje filed an ex parte motion seeking to enforce his fundamental right to a fair hearing.
“That all the parties are hereby mandated to maintain status quo before the purported emergency meeting of the alleged executive members of APC Ganduje Ward, and to stay action in respect of this matter pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application,” said A.M Liman, a judge of the Federal High Court in Kano.
The judge subsequently fixed April 30 to hear Ganduje’s appeal.
In his reaction to the development, Ganduje attributed his controversial suspension to the plan of Governor Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to weaken the APC in the state ahead of the 2027 general election and other electoral contests.
Conclusion
Findings show that the assertion that Ganduje is not the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress is untrue pending the ruling of the court.
