On the eve of the nationwide planned protest a communique was seen circulating online posted by a blog, Equity Media that the nationwide planned protest which is scheduled to August 1 to 10 is now shifted to October.

The content therein allegedly claimed that it emanated from the Take It Back Movement, one of the key groups leading the protest across the country.

Reports have shown that various Nigerian groups are planning a nationwide protest  from August 1 to 10 which was embedded with hashtags – #DaysofRage and #EndBadGovernance.

Premium Times recent online poll shows that most Nigerians support #EndBadGovernance protest, this led FactCheckAfrica to verify the circular is actually true.

Verification

FactCheckAfrica carefully examined the content of the circular and discovered that it was signed by Damilare Adenola, a Human Rights Activist.

We checked through Damilare’s X page and discovered that he had reposted one of Take It Back Movement’s posts where the group refuted the statement not to have emanated from them.

The caption of the post reads, “DISREGARD!

They have started with their propaganda and false narratives.

Take It Back Movement refuted the claim // FactCheckAfrica

Our Fact-checker also combed through the X account of the key personalities in the protest’s plan like Omoyele Sowore and Nutofo Tomi, and we were able to retrieve instances where they were refuting the claim as seen here and here respectively.

Conclusion

The claim that the protest is shifted to October is False! Findings show that the leaders of the nationwide protest have come out to debunk it.
