A claim circulating on social media claimed that Okon Samson, a candidate for 2026 UTME, scored 394 in the recently conducted exam.

The result slip illustrating the claim is attached to a post shared by an X user identified as Okezie James.

FAKE RESULT

Reacting to the viral post, the spokesperson of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement issued on Sunday, April 26, 2026, described the result as fake, urging members of the public to disregard it.

“A purported result slip currently being circulated, claiming that a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 UTME, is entirely fake. It is surprising that such a fabrication is being shared by otherwise well-informed Nigerians,” DR Fabian noted.

“Firstly, the Board has clearly stated that UTME results are view-only. The circulated document appears on a fabricated result template, which on its own is sufficient indication that it is not authentic.”

“Secondly, the Board’s registration numbers are system-generated and do not follow the pattern ‘20269’ as seen on the fake slip. There are several other inconsistencies that, even at a glance, expose the result as fraudulent,” he added.

Verification:

Findings shows that the claim is false and misleading. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially debunked the result, confirming that it is fabricated.

Conclusion:

The claim that Okon Samson scored 394 in the 2026 UTME is false. An official response from JAMB confirms that the circulated result slip is fake and should be disregarded. This false claim highlights the growing prevalence of fabricated UTME results.

Recall that on April 16, 2026, two candidates and a parent were reportedly arrested for forging UTME scores with Artificial Intelligence.
